For anyone who wants to actually see mealtime, not just schedule it. A 1080P camera with a 140-degree view and night vision streams live through the app, with 2-way audio to talk to your pet at feeding time. The dual-hopper design also means two separate food compartments in one unit.

About PETKIT Yumshare Dual-Hopper Feeder with Camera

Owners keep coming back to two things beyond the spec sheet: the two-way audio and the sense of humor the camera adds to daily feeding. Multiple reviewers describe their cats running to the feeder the moment they hear a recorded voice message play, and more than one owner said the motion clips feel like a running diary of their pet's day. One long-time buyer specifically praised the sturdier build compared to a previous feeder: no exposed impeller or front button a determined cat could paw at to dispense food on demand, solving a real problem for a food-motivated cat.

The PETKIT app is the sticking point across several reviews spanning different star ratings. People describe live video buffering behind ads before it loads, weak-signal warnings even when every other device connects fine, and a persistent push toward a paid subscription that's deliberately hard to compare against the free tier. A second, related thread: the in-app portion and weight tracking is inconsistent or nonfunctional for some buyers, it shows zero grams dispensed or won't hold a cat's entered weight, which matters most to owners who bought it specifically to track a diet.

The Honest Take

What I Like and What I Don't

What I like

  • Highest rating in this lineup at 4.5 stars
  • Dual hopper is a genuine two-in-one feature, not just a marketing label
  • Real 1080P camera with night vision and 2-way audio
  • Sturdier, harder-to-defeat design with no exposed impeller or accessible dispense button, which stopped a determined, food-motivated cat from self-serving
  • Runs on battery backup during power outages, keeping feeding on schedule

What holds it back

  • Shortest review history in this lineup at 390 ratings
  • More expensive than a feeder without a camera
  • The app pushes a paid subscription and loads ads before the live video feed, adding delay right when you want to check in
  • In-app portion and weight tracking is unreliable for some units, several owners report it can't hold a saved pet weight or shows 0 grams dispensed

Is This For You?

Who Should (and Shouldn't) Buy This

Get it if…

You want an automatic feeder that doubles as a genuinely fun way to check in on your pets during the day, the camera and two-way voice are the real differentiators buyers rave about.

Skip it if…

You specifically need reliable in-app gram-level portion tracking, multiple owners say that feature doesn't actually work despite being advertised.

The verdict

Real owners back up the strong star rating, the camera, two-way audio, and sturdier build are consistently the reasons people love this feeder day to day, not just the dual-hopper convenience. The app is the weak link, ad-loading delays and broken portion tracking show up across enough reviews to call it a pattern. For more on comparing feeder types, see our pet feeders guide. Pair it with a proper airtight container, our pet food storage containers guide covers what actually keeps kibble fresh between fills.

What Real Buyers Say

4.0

Really good value for the money. Likes the feeder overall but the app's home screen loads ads before the live camera feed, which is frustrating since it was bought partly to monitor a diabetic cat's eating. The app pushes a subscription in a way that makes it hard to tell what the free plan actually includes, and the gram-tracking feature shows zero and never actually measures food dispensed despite being listed as a feature. Praises easy assembly, easy cleaning, the voice-recording option, and excellent night vision.

5.0

Cat proof. A previous feeder from another brand let a crafty cat knock it over or paw the impeller and front button to dispense food on demand; this one solved both problems, it's stockier and harder to tip, feed buttons are on the side and require holding them down, and there's no accessible impeller. Mentions the desiccant packet to keep food fresh, the built-in camera and speaker, and that the app can be somewhat buggy but self-corrects within about a minute.

1.0

Nearly impossible to connect with WiFi. The app is poorly implemented: entering a cat's weight in the feeding calculator kept reverting to a default weight and couldn't be edited, portion sizes came out inconsistent across trials, and after a power outage the unit needed a full factory reset to reconnect (and only works on 2.4GHz). Contrasts this with other PETKIT products (water fountain, litter box) which worked well, calling this feeder's software a fail despite decent hardware.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the point of two hoppers in one feeder?

A dual-hopper design lets you load two different foods, or run separate schedules, from a single unit instead of buying two feeders. Useful for a two-pet household or for splitting dry and wet-adjacent dry food types.

Does the camera need a subscription for cloud storage?

Live viewing and basic recording work through the app; some extended cloud storage options are purchased separately in-app. Check the current listing for what's included versus optional.
